Dans la pr\u00e9sente \u00e9tude, l\u2019Office de surveillance des activit\u00e9s en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 nationale et de renseignement (OSSNR) a examin\u00e9 les activit\u00e9s men\u00e9es par l\u2019Agence des services frontaliers du Canada (ASFC), Immigration, R\u00e9fugi\u00e9s et Citoyennet\u00e9 Canada (IRCC) et Transports Canada (TC). Il s\u2019est \u00e9galement int\u00e9ress\u00e9 \u00e0 la Gendarmerie royale du Canada (GRC) qui joue un r\u00f4le de soutien dans un des grands programmes d\u2019IRCC dans ce domaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les donn\u00e9es biom\u00e9triques sont des renseignements personnels de nature d\u00e9licate. L\u2019identification des gens par leurs caract\u00e9ristiques biologiques soul\u00e8ve des pr\u00e9occupations au chapitre de la protection de la vie priv\u00e9e et des droits de la personne. La population a des appr\u00e9hensions au sujet de l\u2019utilisation par le gouvernement de l\u2019analyse biom\u00e9trique, comme en t\u00e9moigne le d\u00e9bat sur l\u2019application de la technologie de reconnaissance faciale et, corr\u00e9lativement, au sujet de l\u2019incidence distincte que cette analyse peut avoir sur les groupes marginalis\u00e9s. Par ailleurs, l\u2019identification des gens entrant au pays \u2013 avec la d\u00e9termination qui s\u2019ensuit de leur droit d\u2019acc\u00e9der au territoire canadien ou des risques qui y sont li\u00e9s \u2013, remplit une fonction de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 nationale.
